Momentary vs Maintaining foot switches: Which one and ...

I recently acquired a portable band saw and stand, and I believe an auxiliary switch is a necessary addition. After researching foot switches, I've found that they primarily fall into two categories: momentary and maintaining switches.

For those using a momentary foot switch that necessitates constant pressure to keep the saw running, how has that experience been for you? Do you find it uncomfortable to keep your foot on the switch during long cuts? Does balancing your weight on two feet engaged in different tasks become tiring? Personally, I appreciate the safety feature of it shutting off as soon as I lift my foot, but I am less enthusiastic about the constant pressure required to operate the tool.

Conversely, for users with a maintaining switch that operates on a push-on/push-off mechanism, do you often find yourself fumbling to locate the switch when it’s time to turn off the saw? Does it feel cumbersome to have to visually locate the switch before pushing it "off" once you’re finished with your cut?

I am trying to find a better place for the band saw switch, as it’s quite awkward to navigate around and deactivate the switch mechanism while it’s situated on the stand. Is there a clear advantage to converting the relocated switch into a foot switch, and if so, does one type of switch stand out over the other?

I am also considering the option of installing a standard toggle switch in a more accessible location on the stand, provided I can determine a suitable spot for it.

Thank you in advance!
