You will get efficient and thoughtful service from eooe.

Ok, I am trying to cut through the dollar tree cutting boards and am having no luck at all. I am using my Creality Falcon 10w laser and I have tried down to 200mm/m and 20 passes at 80% power and even at 100% power and I can not get through. I will have some parts that burn through but other parts do not. I have even tried to put the laser closer to the wood thinking it needed to be a bit closer to get all the way but that did not help either. Is it just the wood that is used that I won't be able to ever cut through with a 10w diode?

I do clean the lens before every use or in between when I do 3 tries just to make sure it is clean and wont break like the original lens did.

I do NOT have my air assist hooked up as it is too cold most days to do anything in the garage and I did not want it all out there in the freezing temps (might bring the laser in too just to get it out of the cold for winter). Would the air assist make it so it could cut through? I was under the assumption that was just to keep the flare ups down and clear out any bits of char or particles that would be there.

I can get pics tomorrow but just picture a 2" circle and at the most 3/4 of it goes the whole way though but not enough to just push on it and break it out. Hi my name is Mike and I use a Roly Automation LaserMATIC10 and a Creality Falcon 10w diode laser.

Good luck with that! The only laser to date that has cut through a DT bamboo board for me is the Atezr 20W. See my review video.

Really, wow! I do get close! I can see light through it at certain places but it never cuts the full thing. Maybe a jig where I can flip the board over and cut it again from that side..... Hi my name is Mike and I use a Roly Automation LaserMATIC10 and a Creality Falcon 10w diode laser.

Have you found an answer to this question yet?
I know it has been a while since you posted it.
I am able to cut my bamboo cutting boards by making a template then cutting from both sides.
I am using an Xtool D1 Pro 20 watt with air assist; I set my speed at 300mm per second and my power to 70%. I make 3 passes then turn the board over and precisely align (0.001, not much room for error) the board then make 3 more passes.
Once finished I will have a very small line in the middle (absolutely no way to be perfect) which I clean up with a Dremmel tool.
Of course, depending upon your laser, temperature, and climate you may have to adjust your speed and power.

If you have found a better solution I would love to hear it. If not maybe this will help. ScottF XtoolD1Pro20w Brand New Beginner, 6 days with no previous experience. Windows 10 64 bit

Thanx for the tip. This is what I tried and it does work but if it doesn't go through with some of the intricate patterns it can be a bear to try and get the rest cut out!! Weather is getting warmer here so I might play around with it again and see what I can do. Always fun to find new ways to do things Hi my name is Mike and I use a Roly Automation LaserMATIC10 and a Creality Falcon 10w diode laser.

I have not done this, but I wonder if lowering the laser after the first few passes would help. This would lower the focal point to the area being cut after some of the material was removed. May be faster and more accurate than flipping it over. Let us know what you find that works. Hi, my name is Matt and I have a Lasermatic MK2 30 watt and I have been working with CNC Rotors and CNC lasers for about 3 years.

I had thought of that but I did not think that the focal point could be lowered enough to actually cut through completely and I really did not want to risk smoking my laser.
If you do decide to try it would you let us know what you find? ScottF XtoolD1Pro20w Brand New Beginner, 6 days with no previous experience. Windows 10 64 bit

I wasn't thinking about intricate patterns (that is a good question), I am only cutting a "handle" area in the cutting board which is a simple large elliptical. ScottF XtoolD1Pro20w Brand New Beginner, 6 days with no previous experience. Windows 10 64 bit

I actually made a router CNC and use that to cut thicker material prior to laser engraving. They are fairly simple to build and not expensive at all. Price depends on the size you want but something you might want to consider. Definitely adds to the capabilities of your shop. I can answer any questions and send photos if anyone is interested.

I am currently making production run quantities for a client, and I can take wood planks straight from the mill, cut them out, then laser engrave them. They are 1" thick so I don't think my laser will have any chance of cutting it.
