I feel like the water that does get in just drips down the inside of the bed. I'm not sure there's enough spray or force to make it land on the bed mat itself? It'd have to run down the wall, then up the side of the bed mat. at least that's my take.

I chose this product because it's easy off and on for when it's in the way. PO had installed a Leer one piece hard cover which lapped over all 4 sides and locked well.
